I write like Vladimir Nabokov

Art /Creative Technology /Miscellaneous

English has never been my strong point. According to the ingeniously curious I Write Like site, apparently I write like Russian. More specifically Vladimir Nabokov, whom until now was completely unknown to me. Amazon, here I come!

On another note, the URL for the site is one the shortest domain names I’ve seen – http://iwl.me

Augmented Shadow

Art /Creative Technology /User Experience

Love this fresh approach to Augmented Reality. Teaches the old dog (alright maybe not that old) a few new, and much needed tricks. Great stuff!

“The shadows exist both in a real and a virtual environment simultaneously. It thus brings augmented reality to the tabletop by way of a tangible interface. The shadow is an interface metaphor connecting the virtual world and users.”

Time for screenprinting?

Art /Design

After catching all the great screenprinting work at Pick Me Up last month. It made me think about re-living the days of my good ole art lessons, and taking up a bit of after-hours screen printing. Not sure where I’d put all the kit mind. Maybe I just don’t need a bed.

Don’t Exit Through The Gift Shop

Art

Last night I saw the new Banksy film, Exit Though The Gift Shop and it was, in one word, brilliant. Not really so much about Banksy, but an international look at the history of street art and a mini-biopic of the now famous, Mr Brainwash. Who seems to have turned himself overnight into an international cultural-pop-art superstar. Definitely worth watching if you’re even vaguely aware/interested in street art.

John Mayer + Canon 5D MKII

Art /Music

The Canon 5D MKII has been making quite the splash since it’s launch. First Greg Yaitanes announces he’s going to record the season finale of House with an 5D. Now John Mayer releases this beautifully shot docu-thing. If only I had the pennies for one.

Filmed on May 5, 2010, a mostly first-person chronicle of the day’s events leading up to a performance in Wollongong, Australia. Shot on Canon 5D mkII with 50mm 1.2 and 24-70 lenses.
